The Pillar Implant Procedure
This procedure is now approved by Health Canada for snoring and sleep apnea. It involves a one-time insertion of three polyester implants into the soft palate at the back of the mouth, and is done in the office under local anaesthesia in about 20 minutes. Normal activities may be resume at once, and the post-operative pain and swelling is mild. If the results of the proceedure are for any reason disliked it may be reversed; however the great majority of bed-partners are pleased with the reduction in snoring levels, and it has had some success in diminishing sleep apnea as well. For more information, read our newsletter on PIP or see a video of the PIP proceedure.
